Class Notes 1/30

Today in class we took our systems of equations test.

Homework due Wed 2/1: Read section 8.2 & 8.3

Thursday, January 26, 2017

Class Notes 1/26

Today in class we started our coverage of exponents. We learned about the multiplication properties of exponents and spent some time working in groups on some problems from the text book.

Class Notes 1/24

Today in class we worked in our groups on solving systems of linear inequalities. For those who did not finish in class finish the worksheet for homework.

Homework due Thursday 1/26: Finish handout.

Class Notes 1/20

Today in class we covered section 7-6 of our book. This section showed us how we can solve systems of inequalities. We saw that when we graph a system of inequalities our solution is the entire area where our shaded areas overlap. After going over class notes we then worked on some examples from the book.

No Homework over the weekend. Enjoy.

Class Notes 1/18

Today in class we covered section 7.5, which covered special types of systems of linear equations. Up until today we have covered systems that had one solution (meaning that the two graphs intersected at a specific point). In today's lesson we learned that systems can also have no solution (linear graphs are parallel) or infinitely many solutions (linear graphs are the same line).

Homework due Friday 1/20: Pg. 429 #6, 8, 10, 20, 22, 25, 31-33

Class Notes Section 7-5

Class Notes 1/13

Today in class we worked in groups solving system of equation word problems.

Homework due Wednesday 1/18: Word Problem worksheet.

Class Notes 1/9

Today in class we covered sections 7-2 and 7-3. These units covered two different methods of solving systems of linear equations algebraically.

The first method was called Linear Substitution where we solve for a variable in one equation and substitute that back into the second equation and solve.

The next method is called Linear Combination (also called the Elimination Method). In this method we eliminate one of the two variables from both equations by combining the two equations and solving for the remaining variable after.

Notes from these two sections were uploaded to the site last class (check there if you need to revisit)

Homework due Thursday: 7-2 #14, 17-21, 42, 43
                                           7-3 # 25-30, 42-44

Class Notes 1/5

Today in class we started our coverage of Chapter 7 (Solving Systems of Linear Equations). Today we learned how to use a graph in order find a solution of a system of linear equations. When graphing a system of linear equations we find the intersect point of the two lines and use that point to see if the point satisfies both equations.

Homework due Monday 1/9: Pg. 401-403 #11, 13, 17, 21, 23, 29, 35, 36, 40.
                                                Read 7.2 & 7.3

Class Notes 1-5

**Note the class notes linked above contain the notes from our next lesson. Today in class we only covered the first 2 pages of the linked notes.**
